A TRIBUTE TO SARAJEVO’S CULTURAL LEGACY

At the multimedia museum Planet Sarajevo, as part of the Sidran Days Cultural Festival, the event SAt the multimedia museum Planet Sarajevo, one of the most innovative cultural attractions in Sarajevo, the event Sidran Between Poetry and Film was held as part of the Sidran Days Cultural Festival, bringing together admirers of the life and work of Abdulah Sidran, one of the most important voices of Sarajevo’s literary and film heritage.

The discussion, led by Seno Musabegović, featured prominent participants including academic Mile Stojić and actor Izudin Bajrović, while visitors also had the opportunity to watch a special interview that Sidran recorded exclusively for Planet Sarajevo. This unique multimedia moment further enriched the immersive museum experience in Sarajevo, combining storytelling, film, and personal memory.

The author of the exhibition, Edina Selesković, emphasized that Sidran was “the strongest wind in our sails” during the creation of the museum — a space that carries the name of his poem and book Planet Sarajevo, symbolizing a deep connection between the artist and the city.

Stojić highlighted that Sidran’s relationship with Sarajevo is rare and profound, drawing parallels with literary figures such as Borges and Buenos Aires or Cavafy and Alexandria, underscoring how deeply his identity is woven into the cultural fabric of the city.

Miranda Sidran, president of the Sidran Foundation, noted that the festival events evoked strong emotions and attracted wide interest, while Planet Sarajevo continues to strengthen Sarajevo’s cultural scene as a must-visit museum and storytelling space.

Musabegović added that through poetry and film, Sidran created a unique map of Sarajevo — a city whose soul he captured through scents, sounds, and images — an approach that resonates with the interactive and multimedia concept of Planet Sarajevo.

Project director Zlatko Berbić expressed pride that Planet Sarajevo is becoming a central meeting point for the city’s cultural community, reinforcing its role as a key cultural hub and tourist attraction in Sarajevo.

Sidran’s legacy remains deeply embedded in Sarajevo’s identity — a reminder that the city continues to live through its artists, their words, and their stories.

The Planet Sarajevo project was realized with the support of BH Telecom, Sarajevska Pivara, NLB Bank, and Kommerling, under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Tourism and Environment and the City of Sarajevo.
